In 2019, Earthworm Jim creator Doug TenNapel brought his hero back in a new form: a comic book. Rather than waiting for another video game, he developed Earthworm Jim: Launch the Cow as a book for fans of the character.
TenNapel launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund the project, inviting readers to help make it happen. The response was enormous.
More than 9,000 people backed the project, and its fundraising passed $800,000. The appeal was easy to understand: a substantial return to Jim’s world from the artist who created him.
I was one of those backers. In the video, I walk through my copy of the book and the extra items that came with my pledge.
Those extras included a double-sided poster, trading cards, a build-it-yourself paper figure, and more.
