The main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic series is heading into a new storyline in which the Turtles must survive attacks from a host of enemies.
IDW Publishing has revealed the first details of War All the Time, the next story arc in its main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.
The story begins in issue #25, scheduled for January 13, 2027. Writer Matthew Rosenberg will continue on the series, joined by artist Juann Cabal.
The final order cutoff for the opening issue is November 30, 2026. The detailed announcement came on October 8 at New York Comic Con, where Rosenberg shared some of his plans for the series. He said he has plotted the story through at least issue #33.
A City Full of Enemies
War All the Time takes place after the events of The City That Never Dies. Following a brief period of calm, a recently resurrected enemy begins gathering a large group of villains.
The Turtles find themselves trapped in a hostile New York City. According to the official presentation, the conflict is intended to become one of the largest battles in TMNT comics history.
Rosenberg also explained that the first two chapters will not introduce any new villains. He will draw on characters already established in the franchise, although he did not reveal who will return or identify the mysterious resurrected enemy.
A Fight for Survival
Rosenberg compared the opening of the arc to movies such as Escape from New York and Friday the 13th. That suggests a story built around pursuit and survival, with the Turtles trying to stay alive as threats close in from every direction.
He also wants to preserve the group’s family dynamic. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo may be facing an army of enemies, but their conversations, disagreements, and bond as brothers will remain central to the story.
Is Shredder Returning?
During the presentation, Rosenberg discussed Shredder and described him as one of the most dangerous characters in the TMNT universe. However, IDW did not confirm that Shredder is the resurrected enemy mentioned in the synopsis. For now, connecting those details remains speculation rather than an official announcement.
