Gossip Stones are the gray stones with a Sheikah eye carved into them. Equip the Mask of Truth and examine a stone to hear a rumor. You can also hit one with your sword to check the time, play Zelda’s Lullaby to restore magic, or set a bomb beside one and watch it launch. Four stand together in the courtyard outside the Temple of Time.
This guide covers The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2, released on November 5, 2026. It includes 21 written routes, 39 entries across 15 regional maps, and 40 rumor summaries. The game’s total stone count is still unconfirmed. Read this guide in Spanish.

Turn a butterfly into a fairy
One Sacred Grove rumor points to a trick for Child Link. Take out a Deku Stick and slowly approach a butterfly with the stick in your hands. The butterfly can turn into a fairy. Bring an empty bottle if you want to catch it. GameSpot demonstrates this at 2:52 and shows the stone interactions at 0:20. See the Song of Storms healing effect.
How to get the Mask of Truth
Start as Child Link after meeting Zelda. Show her letter to the Kakariko guard at the gate to Death Mountain Trail. Then visit the Happy Mask Shop in Hyrule Castle Town Market during the day. Borrow one mask at a time. Wear it when you approach its buyer, then return to the shop and pay the asking price before borrowing the next one.

| Trade | Mask | Buyer and location | You receive | You pay the shop |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Keaton Mask | The same guard at the Death Mountain Trail gate in Kakariko. | 15 | 10 |
| 2 | Skull Mask | Skull Kid in the first clearing on the left as you enter the Lost Woods from Kokiri Forest. Stand on the stump opposite him. | 10 | 20 |
| 3 | Spooky Mask | The boy playing among the headstones in Kakariko Graveyard during the day. | 50 | 30 |
| 4 | Bunny Hood | The Running Man appears in Hyrule Field after you clear Jabu-Jabu’s Belly. In the morning, check the field by the Castle Town wall near the drawbridge. | 200 | 50 |

Set aside 10 extra rupees for the Skull Mask trade. Leave room in your wallet before selling the Bunny Hood. Once you repay the final 50 rupees, the shop opens its special reserve and you can borrow the Mask of Truth for free. From the market, take the path next to the shop to reach the Temple of Time courtyard and test the mask.

Gossip Stone locations
The numbers below are for the written routes. In grottos, look for the listed landmarks to make sure you entered the right one. The rumor table groups messages by region because several messages still need to be matched to individual stones.
Hyrule Castle Town and Hyrule Castle
1. First stone outside the Temple of Time. From the market, take the passage by the Happy Mask Shop and stop in the courtyard before going up to the temple. Face the carved eyes and count from left to right.
2. Second stone in the row. Move one place right from the first stone and face the eye.
3. Third stone in the row. Keep going right to the third carving.
4. Fourth stone in the row. Examine the stone at the far right. All four are accessible as Child Link. Return on foot after getting the mask.

5. Hyrule Castle moat grotto. Return as Child Link after learning the Song of Storms. On the way to the castle, pass the vines and guards until you reach the moat. Find the tree at the bend and play L, R, X, L, R, X. Drop into the opening. Expect spiders and walls you can break with bombs. Eurogamer’s map and screenshots, grotto 35
Kokiri Forest and Sacred Grove
6. Kokiri Forest, Lost Woods exit. Enter Kokiri Forest from the Lost Woods and turn right immediately. The stone is above ground, beside the entrance to a grotto you can open with the Song of Storms. Grotto 11 reference
7. Sacred Grove, grotto near the warp pad. From the Minuet of Forest warp pad, find the entrance in the southeast corner and bomb it. Inside, play the Song of Time with A, L, R, A, L, R in front of the blocks. The stone is beside the chest containing a Business Scrub Seed. Sacred Grove map · Grotto 5 reference
8. Sacred Grove, approach to the Forest Temple. As Adult Link, check the final stretch of the trail before you use the Hookshot to reach the raised temple entrance. This stone is associated with the rumor about Saria. The regional map marks two other stones outdoors. Their walking routes and exact messages are still being checked. Sacred Grove route
Kakariko Village
9. Grotto by the House of Skulltula. From the graveyard entrance, head west. Check the map for the opening to the right of the house, place a bomb there, and drop in. The stone is in the room with beehives. You can shoot the hives with a bow for rupees.
10. Covered grotto near the potion shop. Face the old woman’s shop and go down the stairs. Look under the little roof almost straight ahead. The stone shares the grotto with a chest containing a blue rupee. Kakariko references, grottos 16 and 17
Hyrule Field
11. Bush circle southeast of Lon Lon Ranch. Go to the small pond before the path down toward Lake Hylia. Bomb the center of the bushes, or strike it with the Megaton Hammer as Adult Link. Drop in and look near the wall with the fairy’s thought. A Skulltula and a wooden crate identify the room.

12. Grotto between Kokiri Forest and Zora River. Follow the eastern edge of Hyrule Field between those entrances. Bomb the grotto shown on the regional map. The stone shares the room with green and blue rupees.
13. Grotto near the Gerudo Valley entrance. Find the big rock by the entrance to the valley from Hyrule Field. Break it with a bomb and drop in. Look for cobwebs, a wall-crawling spider, and a cow. Hyrule Field references, grottos 22, 24, and 25
Zora River
14. Grotto south of the island. Use the island with rocks and bushes in the middle of the river as a landmark. Bomb the bushes to its south and drop in. Find the stone and the chest containing a Business Scrub Seed. Child Link can use the Cucco here to glide toward a nearby Piece of Heart.
15. Northwestern rock circle. From the Hyrule Field entrance to Zora River, look for the circle of rocks in the northwest. Play the Song of Storms in the middle and drop in. Four pots stand beside the stone. Zora River references, grottos 3 and 4
Goron City and Death Mountain
16. Goron City, boulder maze. After getting the Bomb Bag in Dodongo’s Cavern, go to Goron City’s top level and look for the room on the west side. Bomb your way through the maze to the chests and the crate. The stone is in that area. Goron City route
17. Death Mountain Crater, rocky passage. As Adult Link with the Megaton Hammer, leave the Great Fairy of Wisdom’s room and pass the red gate. Break the boulder in the passage. Look for the stone before the next blocked stretch. Its rumor mentions a sword stronger than Medigoron’s blade.
Zelda Central reports a second stone in the passage before the trail exit. The regional index distinguishes one outdoor stone and one in a grotto. The possible extra stone stays outside the count while that discrepancy is checked. Zelda Central’s route
18. Death Mountain Crater, brown boulder grotto. Cross the broken bridge in the crater and climb the net. Find the large brown rock surrounded by stones and bomb it. The grotto contains a stone and a chest with a Business Scrub Seed.
19. Death Mountain Trail, cow grotto. Take the crater exit down the net toward the lower part of the trail. Find the grotto opening on the reference map. The cow identifies the correct room. Crater and trail references, grottos 32 and 33
Dodongo’s Cavern and Gerudo Valley
20. Dodongo’s Cavern, central chamber. As Child Link, cross the platforms in the main chamber toward the east side. Look in the northern alcove. The southern alcove leads to the Baby Dodongos. The cavern’s rumor links the taste of rock roast to its hardness. Central chamber walkthrough

21. Gerudo Valley, waterfall bank. From the bottom of the canyon, follow the bank toward the waterfall. The stone is on the way to the wet rocks behind the falling water. The valley rumor hints at hiding places behind crests and ornamental skulls. Waterfall route

Regional maps and route order
Start at the Temple of Time once you have the mask. Then visit Hyrule Castle, Kokiri Forest, and the Hyrule Field grottos as your items allow. Save the crater routes for when you have the Megaton Hammer. If a grotto requires the Song of Storms, learn it from the man in Kakariko’s windmill as Adult Link. Frequently asked questions
Can I hear the rumors before drawing the Master Sword?
Yes. Complete the four mask sales as Child Link. The last buyer appears after Jabu-Jabu’s Belly. Repay the shop for the Bunny Hood, collect the Mask of Truth, and try it in the Temple of Time courtyard.
Are the Mask of Truth and Lens of Truth the same item?
They are separate items. The mask lets you hear rumors. The Castle Town rumor about the Treasure Chest Shop mentions the lens, but you hear the rumor by wearing the mask.
Is there a reward for finding every Gossip Stone?
The sources document individual hints and reactions. A reward for visiting every stone remains unverified.
What are Gossip Quests in Zelda Notes?
Gossip Quests are a Nintendo Switch App activity. The app shows an image and asks you to find the location in Hyrule. Examining stones with the Mask of Truth is a separate activity inside the game. Nintendo’s description of Zelda Notes
